Modern 5-page website for a small ceramics studio (WordPress + Elementor)
Project Description
I run Shipley Ceramics Studio. We make small-batch functional and sculptural pottery and teach private wheel / glaze lessons. The studio is growing and we need a clean website that looks like a craft studio, not a generic small-business template.
This is a design + build job. I will supply photos and draft text. You design, build, and hand it over ready to use.
Goal
Visitors should understand three things in the first screen:
We make handmade ceramics.
You can book a private lesson.
You can contact us to buy a piece or ask about classes.
Platform
WordPress
Lightweight theme (Astra, Kadence, or similar)
Elementor (or Gutenberg if you can keep it equally polished)
Must be easy for a non-technical owner to change text and photos
No custom booking app. No payments. No WooCommerce shop in this phase.
Pages (5)
Home — full-width pottery photos, short intro, featured pieces, “Book a class” and “See the work” buttons
The Work — gallery of 12–16 pieces (I provide photos). Simple grid, lightbox, short captions
Classes — private lessons: who they are for, what to expect, how to inquire. Inquiry form (name, email, preferred dates, class type)
About — short maker story, studio photo, warm and personal tone
Contact — form + placeholder for studio location / hours
Plus a simple header, footer, and 404.
Design direction
Quiet, tactile, natural. Clay, linen, warm off-white, charcoal, one accent (soft rust or moss).
Large photography. Little decoration.
Editorial typography. Not playful-cute, not luxury-fashion.
Mobile first. Studio clients often book from a phone.
I will send 3–4 reference sites after hire. Do not copy them.
Must include
Responsive desktop / tablet / phone
Contact form + class inquiry form (Formidable, WPForms, or Fluent Forms)
Basic on-page SEO: titles, H1/H2, alt text on images I provide
Fast enough: no heavy sliders, no unused plugins
Cookie-light setup
2 rounds of revisions after the first full draft
10-minute Loom (or written) handoff: how to edit a page, replace a photo, read form entries
Out of scope (do not quote these into this job)
Logo design
Product copywriting from scratch
Online shop / inventory
Paid ads, SEO campaign, blog content
Custom membership or calendar with deposits
If those are needed later, they will be separate jobs.
What I provide
Logo file (if we have one) or wordmark to typeset
15–20 photos of pots, hands, and the studio
Draft text for all 5 pages
Brand notes: colors I like / do not like
Timeline
10–14 days from kickoff.
How to apply
Do not send a generic “I can do this” bid.
Please include:
2 live websites you built for a maker, studio, shop, or hospitality client
Theme + builder you would use and why
A one-paragraph plan for the Home page
Confirm the price is $650 fixed, including the two revision rounds
Your delivery date
Bids without real links will be ignored.
