We operate an existing production B2B commerce platform built as a responsive React/PWA web application.

The core application, backend, authentication, business logic, database, and security architecture are already implemented and operating.

We are now looking for an experienced mobile developer to prepare the existing application for release on:

Apple App Store
Google Play Store

This is not a greenfield app-development project and not a redesign project.

The primary goal is to convert an already-working production web application into stable, maintainable iOS and Android apps using Capacitor, and to complete the store-release process.

We are based in the Washington, DC area and are interested in building a long-term working relationship with the developer who takes on this project.

For easier communication and ongoing collaboration, we prefer candidates located in the U.S. Eastern or Central time zones, particularly on the East Coast or in the Midwest.

This is a preference rather than an absolute requirement, but availability during U.S. Eastern business hours will be important.

Current Project Status

The platform already includes:

Production web application
Responsive desktop and mobile UI
Existing PWA architecture
React / TypeScript frontend
Supabase backend and authentication
Role-based user authority
Business onboarding workflows
Product and catalog management
Ordering and approval workflows
Production database and security controls
Email infrastructure
Notification architecture currently being finalized
Existing production source code
Stable backend environment

The core business architecture is already established.

Scope of Work

The developer will be responsible for:

Review the existing application for mobile-native compatibility.
Configure and stabilize Capacitor for iOS and Android.
Create and maintain native iOS and Android projects.
Configure:
Bundle ID / Package ID
iOS signing and provisioning profiles
Android signing keys
App icons
Splash screens
Deep links / universal links if required
Native permissions
Verify authentication and session persistence inside the native WebView.
Verify mobile behavior for:
Camera
Photo library
File uploads
External links
Downloads
Browser handoffs
Prepare the app architecture for future native push notifications.
Test on real iOS and Android devices.
Prepare:
TestFlight builds
Google Play Internal Testing builds
Resolve App Store and Google Play submission issues.
Assist with final App Store and Google Play release.
Document the complete build and release process so future releases can be performed without depending on the Freelancer.
Important Project Boundary

The developer must not independently redesign or rewrite core business logic.

Do not modify the following without explicit approval:

Database schema
RLS policies
Authentication authority
User roles
Ordering authority
Product architecture
Payment logic
Backend security functions
Core business workflows

If a mobile issue appears to require a backend or architectural change, the developer should document the issue and report it first.

Do not make major architectural changes without approval.

What We Are Looking For

Strong candidates should have proven experience with:

Capacitor
React
TypeScript
Xcode
Android Studio
Apple App Store submission
Google Play submission
Authentication inside Capacitor apps
Session persistence
Deep linking
Native permissions
Mobile debugging
Push notification architecture

Supabase experience is strongly preferred.

Experience converting an existing production React/PWA application into iOS and Android apps is especially valuable.

We are especially interested in developers who can support the project beyond the initial release and assist with future mobile updates, store submissions, and mobile-specific technical issues.

Important Note About AI-Assisted Development

This project has been developed extensively with AI-assisted development.

We are not looking for someone who simply generates more code with AI.

We need a developer who can independently:

Review existing architecture
Identify mobile-specific risks
Evaluate AI-generated code
Improve implementation quality where necessary
Detect security or maintainability issues
Explain the reasoning behind technical decisions

The ideal candidate should be comfortable working with an existing AI-assisted codebase while applying strong professional engineering judgment.

Please Include the Following in Your Proposal
Show 1–3 iOS or Android apps you personally released using Capacitor or a similar hybrid framework.
Explain your exact role in those releases.
Have you converted an existing production React/PWA application into native iOS and Android apps?
What are the most common problems you expect when moving an existing web application into Capacitor?
How would you handle authentication and session persistence inside a Capacitor application?
How would you structure the mobile application so most future business changes do not require frequent App Store or Google Play updates?
If you discover that a mobile issue appears to require changes to backend business logic, database security, or authentication authority, what would you do?
Describe one example where AI-generated code technically worked, but you improved or corrected it. What did you change, and why?
Where are you located, and what time zone do you normally work in?
Are you interested in an ongoing working relationship after the initial App Store and Google Play release?
Engagement Structure

We prefer to begin with a short paid technical assessment before committing to the full project.

Possible milestones:

Technical assessment and mobile compatibility review
Capacitor setup and architecture
iOS / TestFlight build
Android / Play Internal Testing build
Store submission and release
Final documentation and handoff

If the initial project goes well, we are interested in continuing the relationship for future mobile releases, maintenance, store submission support, and mobile-specific development.

We are looking for someone who can work carefully within an existing production system, communicate technical risks clearly, and take ownership of the mobile release process.
