I need an experienced Canvas course designer to overhaul the existing homepage and overall navigation in one of my courses so students immediately know where to begin and can locate weekly tasks without hunting through the side menu. The priority is to build clarity and flow; every click should guide them toward their next assignment instead of distracting them with extra links or dead-ends.
Key requirement
• A clear “Start Here” section with step-by-step instructions—this should sit prominently at the top of the homepage and walk new learners through orientation, syllabus access, and first tasks.
Beyond that anchor, I want the homepage to act as the course’s control center: branded banner, concise welcome message, weekly overview buttons, and consistent iconography that matches Canvas’ native style. The Modules area is already built; your job is to surface it intelligently (e.g., “Begin Week 1” button that jumps straight to the correct module) and hide any default items we don’t actually use.
Deliverables
• Redesigned Canvas homepage mock-up for approval (HTML/CSS within Canvas’ Rich Content Editor)
• Final live homepage published in the course shell, fully linked to existing modules, assignments, and announcements
• Brief hand-off guide explaining how I can duplicate the layout in future shells or tweak the Start Here steps when content changes
Work directly inside the Canvas environment (instructor-level access will be provided) or, if preferred, provide an export package that I can import. Accessibility and mobile responsiveness must remain intact. Target completion: one week from kickoff.
