Calorie Calculator & Food Database Website

I want a straightforward, web-based calorie calculator that anyone interested in healthier eating can use with zero friction. The heart of the project is a food database that stores each item’s calorie count, and I need three intuitive ways to explore it: search by food name, browse by food category, and filter by nutrient content. Users will pick foods, see the calories add up in real time, and adjust portions on the fly.

Please build a clean, responsive interface so the site feels just as smooth on a phone as on a desktop. I’m fine with an off-the-shelf nutrition dataset or an open-API source as long as it’s reliable and easy for me to update later. Future add-ons such as daily calorie-needs calculators or exercise tracking are possibilities, so keep the code modular enough that new components can drop in without a rewrite.
