California C-10 Electrician Needed – Generac Generator Permit Correction
Location: Lakehead, California (Shasta County)
I am looking for an experienced California-licensed C-10 electrical contractor to complete a relatively limited correction to an existing residential Generac whole-home standby generator installation.
This is NOT a new generator installation. The generator system is fully installed, operational and already in use.
The existing installation includes:
Generac whole-home standby generator installed on concrete pad
Gas supply to generator already installed
Existing Generac 200A automatic transfer switch (ATS), installed and operational
Generator power and control wiring already installed
Associated conduit already installed
Existing house electrical circuits and breakers
Generator and ATS are currently functioning properly
The Issue
The installation did not pass Shasta County inspection because the existing listed meter/main/breaker panel had been physically modified as part of the connection to the ATS.
We have subsequently discussed the issue in detail with the Shasta County Building Division. The primary correction is expected to involve replacing/correcting the existing meter/main/breaker equipment and establishing an approved connection between the utility service, existing Generac 200A ATS and house distribution system.
We want to retain the existing generator and ATS and reuse existing compliant wiring, conduit, breakers and other equipment wherever practical.
Scope
We are looking for one contractor who can take responsibility for the correction from design through final approval, including:
Review the existing drawings and County correspondence.
Determine the simplest and most economical code-compliant correction.
Identify the required replacement service/distribution equipment.
Prepare/revise the electrical one-line drawing for Shasta County.
Submit/support reasonable revisions required during County plan review.
After approval, complete the corrective electrical work on site.
Coordinate PG&E disconnect/reconnect or meter work if required.
Reconnect existing circuits and the existing ATS as required.
Test the completed generator/ATS system.
Support the project through final Shasta County inspection/approval.
The objective is not to redesign or replace an otherwise functioning generator system. We want the least complicated compliant correction to the service/panel portion of the installation.
Detailed Project Package Available for Interested Parties able to travel to Lakehead, CA
I have prepared a detailed project package for qualified interested bidders. It includes:
Existing approved permit drawings and electrical one-line
County permit and inspection documents
Written correspondence with the Shasta County Building Division confirming our understanding of the required correction
Generac generator and ATS information
Existing conductor/conduit information
Detailed photographs of the meter/main panel, ATS and modified panel connections
The package will be provided to qualified interested bidders upon request. Additional photographs and measurements can also be provided.
Contractor Requirements
On-site work in Lakehead, California is required. Remote drawing-only proposals will not be considered.
Please include with your bid:
California C-10 contractor license number
Your location
Relevant Generac/standby generator experience
Experience with 200A residential service/panel work
Experience working with PG&E
Confirmation that you can perform the on-site work in Lakehead
Proposed approach and pricing
Experience with Shasta County permitting is a plus.
Pricing
Please provide pricing in two phases if practical:
Phase 1: Site visit (if required), design, equipment selection, revised one-line and County plan-review support.
Phase 2: Replacement equipment, on-site corrective work, PG&E coordination if required, testing and final inspection support.
We prefer to have the proposed correction reviewed/accepted by Shasta County before purchasing significant equipment or beginning corrective work.
Our priorities are simple: retain the existing generator and ATS, reuse compliant existing equipment wherever practical, keep the correction economical, and obtain final County approval.
