I want to launch a fully-featured, web-only logistics marketplace that lets customers book trucks on demand in much the same way Instatruck does. The build must go far beyond a simple website; I need a production-ready SaaS platform that can scale to thousands of concurrent users and jobs without performance loss.
Core workflow
• Customers create an account, enter their pick-up and drop-off details, receive an instant, automatically calculated quote, and confirm the job.
• The system matches the request with the most suitable vehicle, optimises the route (supporting multi-stop deliveries), and tracks the consignment live on an interactive Google Map.
• Admin users monitor every booking through a dedicated console, intervene when required, manage payouts, invoices and notifications, and access detailed analytics.
Real-time tracking
Live location updates, ETA calculations, full route history and cost estimation must refresh in real time; accuracy is critical. Google Maps, WebSockets (or an equivalent push technology) and modern front-end mapping components should work together seamlessly.
Key modules to deliver
• Customer booking portal
• Admin dashboard with granular permission controls
• Instant quotation & vehicle-matching engine
• Route optimisation with multi-stop support
• Live tracking, ETA and history logs
• Integrated payments, invoicing and notification system
• Logistics management toolkit (job status, exception handling, reporting)
Technical expectations
The codebase should follow clean, test-driven architecture, be container-ready (Docker/Kubernetes) and support horizontal scaling. I prefer mainstream stacks such as Node.js + React or Django + React, but I’m open to your proven alternatives. Please include CI/CD pipelines, comprehensive API documentation (OpenAPI/Swagger) and unit/integration tests.
Acceptance criteria
1. Working web application deployed on a staging environment.
2. Source code, database schema and infrastructure as-code scripts handed over.
3. All listed modules fully functional and battle-tested with sample data.
4. Performance benchmark demonstrating the platform can handle at least 10,000 concurrent users.
Before you outline your approach, spend time deep-diving into Instatruck to understand the user journey and operational nuances; I expect your proposal to highlight where you intend to match, improve or differentiate from that reference.
