I am commissioning a mixed-methods study that will help increase seasonal influenza vaccination uptake among adults aged 65 and over across all European countries. The assignment combines epidemiological data analysis with qualitative insight to pinpoint why older adults still hesitate, with a particular emphasis on the trust and safety concerns that repeatedly surface in surveys and focus groups.
Here is what I need from you:
• A harmonised dataset that draws on the most recent surveillance reports, national coverage statistics, and relevant Eurostat indicators, cleaned and ready for analysis.
• Rigorous quantitative modelling to map geographic, socio-economic and demographic disparities in flu-shot coverage, followed by clear visualisations I can present to policy stakeholders.
• Qualitative synthesis (e.g., stakeholder interviews, literature scan) that explores in depth how fear of side-effects, mistrust of pharmaceutical companies, and related safety narratives dampen demand among the 65 + group.
• A concise set of evidence-based policy options and communication interventions that health ministries, primary-care networks and local authorities can realistically implement next season. Each recommendation should be linked to measurable indicators so uptake can be monitored over time.
• A brief, easy-to-share educational toolkit—infographics, key messages, and draft social-media posts—tailored for older adults and the healthcare professionals who influence their decisions.
Acceptance criteria
1. All quantitative results reproducible in R or Python with commented scripts.
2. Qualitative findings traceable to sources/interviews with anonymised transcripts supplied.
3. Final report (max 30 pages) plus slide deck delivered in English, ready for submission to EU public-health partners.
4. Recommendations aligned with existing ECDC and WHO Europe guidance, clearly indicating any gaps.
I value clarity, timely communication and meticulous documentation, and I’m happy to schedule brief check-ins around each milestone to keep the project on track.
