I'm looking for a talented digital artist/illustrator to illustrate a children's adventure book set in the North African desert.
The book relates to a young camel that gets lost, and how it is recovered by its owner. The story is intended for children, but I specifically do not want a cartoon or traditionally highly stylised children's-book appearance.
I'm looking for illustrations with a realistic, painterly, compelling and atmospheric quality, perhaps reminiscent of traditional watercolour, classic adventure-book illustration. Digital painting is completely acceptable – the finished appearance and consistency of character portrayal is more important to me than the medium used. I also want to avoid the use of AI generated pictures.
The project
The book is approximately 32 pages and will require around 14 principal illustrations, together with some smaller illustrations/elements.
Please provide your proposed price for the project based on the description above. I am open to discussing different approaches to the number and format of illustrations, including an upfront fee and, where appropriate, a royalty arrangement based on future publication.
