About us
Our mission? To help Canadians travel for less. We aim to become THE travel reference with our 3 main types of content:
* Flight deals (great prices we spot)
* Travel rewards (points, miles, and credit cards)
* General travel content (tips/inspiration/news/etc.)
We are already one of Canada’s most-read travel websites, with over 500,000 page views per month and 100,000+ newsletter subscribers. Our small team is growing, and we want to remain a fun, friendly group of travel enthusiasts!
Role
We are looking for a Content Project Manager & Editor who is bilingual, highly intelligent, hyper-organized, and has great attention to detail.
You don't need years of formal experience or specific qualifications for this role. What you do need is a relentless desire to finish projects, an obsession with getting good content to completion, and a highly adaptable brain.
You will act as the project manager to get all of our content across the finish line, reviewing the writing, formatting, and translation. You’ll also be the right hand to our cofounder, Andrew, and helping to finalize his hundreds of half-finished drafts, ideas, and outlines.
You will also work closely with our other cofounder, Kevin, acting as the primary tester and collaborator for the new AI tools we are building to help us at every stage of the content process, including to review human-written articles for mistakes, to transform them into other formats like infographics, etc.
Responsibilities
* Review articles submitted by our writers, respecting their individual styles while editing for ease of reading and clarity.
* Ensure our brand style guide and standards are reflected and consistent in all content.
* Proofread all content for spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
* Fact-check all content.
* Improve all content by adding internal links and relevant additional information.
* Validate the formatting done by our administrative team.
* Review translations from English to French and vice versa.
* Take ownership of managing the article through all the steps until publication.
* Perform the ultimate quality control checks on all content before publishing.
* Apply basic SEO/GEO best practices to all relevant articles.
* Help create enticing semiweekly newsletter campaigns.
* Finalize unfinished drafts, outlines, and ideas to drive them to publication.
* Update old posts.
* Liaise with the team to turn every long-form piece of written content into smaller standalone pieces.
* Repurpose relevant articles into exhaustive guides and lead magnets.
* Liaise with writers to ensure efficient and timely publication of articles, to manage assignments and follow-ups, and to share notes and feedback so they can improve.
* Analyze data to gauge content performance and test new ideas to improve results.
* Help develop the content strategy with cofounders and plan editorial schedule.
* Assist cofounders with all things content-related.
What we offer
* Compensation: Ranging from US$20-$40 per hour, depending on experience.
* Fully remote career: Work from wherever you want, forever.
* Flexibility: Choose which days/hours you want to work; just let us know a week before.
* Hours: This is a full-time position, from 30 to 40 hours per week as you choose.
* Contract period: 3-month trial period, then this is a permanent need.
* Growth opportunities: Because you will be working directly with the cofounders, your potential to grow within the company is limitless.
What sets you apart
* Travel enthusiast: Your passion for travel is more than a hobby; it's an integral part of who you are.
* Editing expertise: Your hands-on editing experience ensures content is always up to the mark.
* Detail-obsessed: You have an incredible attention to detail and a strong work ethic.
* Curious & quick learner: You don’t just stick to what you know. You're eager to pick up new tricks and skills and what’s new about online content.
* The completion gene: You get immense satisfaction from checking boxes, crossing things off lists, and taking a messy project and making it "done."
* Highly intelligent generalist: You don't need a specific degree. You just need to be a fast learner who can connect multiple concepts and topics together effortlessly.
* AI curiosity: You’ve already played around with ChatGPT or similar tools. You aren't afraid of AI; you are excited to learn how to master it to improve content and processes.
* Bilingual: Fluent in both French and English (mandatory).
