We are a cheese producer, launching a new range of retail cheese wedges under one brand. We need an experienced packaging designer to create a label system for 4 products, with a front label and a back (information) label for each.
The products
Mild White Cheddar, cow milk, 300 g
Mild Red Cheddar, cow milk, 300 g
Semi-cured goat milk cheese (Manchego style), 300 g
Hard cheese, cow milk, aged 12 months, 250 g
Design direction
Premium artisan look: clean and modern, not rustic cliché.
One visual family, with a distinct colour for each SKU so they are easy to tell apart on shelf:
Back label content (bilingual EN + AR)
Product name
Ingredients
Allergen statement
Storage instructions
Nutrition table per 100 g
Net weight
Manufacturer details and country of origin
Barcode area
Blank areas for production date, expiry date and lot number, which are printed at packing
Possibly a weigh-price area for catch-weight packs
Final text will be supplied by us. The layout must meet GCC labelling rules (GSO 9 / GSO 2233), so experience with Gulf food labels is a strong advantage.
Scope and phases
Phase 1 – Concept:
2–3 design directions for one hero SKU
We pick one, then you roll it out to all 4 SKUs, front and back, using placeholder text where needed.
Phase 2 – Final artwork:
Adapt the designs to the final dieline and label size. The pack format is not yet confirmed (vacuum bag or thermoform tray), and we will provide the dieline from our label supplier.
Insert the approved final text and barcodes.
Prepare print-ready files.
Deliverables
Print-ready PDF and editable source files (Adobe Illustrator preferred) for all 8 labels
CMYK colour, bleed and crop marks, fonts outlined, plus original font files or licences
A master template we can reuse for future SKUs
Full copyright and source files transferred to us on final payment
Requirements
Portfolio showing food or FMCG packaging. Cheese, dairy or deli work is a plus.
Proven bilingual English/Arabic typesetting, with correct right-to-left layout and properly joined Arabic script. Please show examples. This is the most important requirement.
Experience preparing files for label printers (dielines, bleed, print specs).
Good written English and responsive communication. We are on Gulf time (UTC+4).
To apply, please include:
2–3 links or images of bilingual EN/AR packaging you designed
Your fixed price for Phase 1 and for Phase 2
Your timeline for Phase 1
One sentence on how you handle Arabic text supplied by the client
Applications without Arabic packaging samples will not be considered.
