I would like to commission a custom pair of bespoke denim trousers.
This design requires a specific 3-piece or 5-piece pattern construction. Not standard 4-panels. Please share this specification with your senior pattern master.
Core Construction Architecture: 3-Piece or 5-piece Saddle Cut:
Garment Pattern:
Either 3 primary panels:
Left Leg Panel
Right Leg Panel
Continuous Center Saddle Panel running unbroken from the front waistband, through the crotch, and up to the rear waistband.
Or 5 primary panels:
Left Front Leg Panel
Left Back Leg Panel
Right Front Leg Panel
Right Back Leg Panel
Continuous Center Saddle Panel running unbroken from the front waistband, through the crotch, and up to the rear waistband.
No Center Cross-Seam: There must be no 4-way cross seam at the base of the pelvis.
Saddle Panel Dimensions:
Front Waist: Starts at 3.5 inches (9 cm) wide.
Crotch Base (Pelvic Floor): Widens to 5 inches (12.5 cm).
Rear Seat Apex: Widens to 5.5 to 6.0 inches (14 to 15 cm) across the fullest part of the seat.
Back Waist: Tapers back to 3.5 inches (9 cm) at the rear waistband.
Seam Finish: Flat-felled or clean double-needle topstitched along both saddle seams for strength and a smooth interior feel.
Waistband, Entry and Pockets
Waistband Height: Very high waist sitting above the hip bones.
Waist Construction:
Front: Clean, flat-front finish
Back: Internal elasticated waistband across the back half for flexible tension.
No center front fly, keeping the front saddle panel completely flat and continuous.
Closure:
Right-side zipper (approx. 9 inches / 23 cm) on the outer hip seam with an interior fabric guard.
Right-side extended tab closure (hidden slide hook or two buttons).
Belt Loops: 7 heavy-duty belt loops (2.25 inch / 5.5 cm opening) distributed around the waistband:
2 front loops flanking the pleats
2 side loops
2 rear loops flanking the center saddle panel
1 rear loop in the center
Front Pockets: Slanted pockets with deep pocket bags secured to the waistband.
Back Pockets: Two patch pockets placed entirely on the outer leg pieces (lateral to the saddle panel seams). Clean, open top with reinforced corner bar-tacks (no buttons, flaps, or zipper hardware).
Leg Fit, Fabric and Color
Silhouette: Relaxed fit through the seat and thighs, falling into a straight leg with a subtle taper toward the hem.
Hem Opening: 8.0 inches flat (16 inches / 40.5 cm total circumference).
Fabric: Mid-weight denim (11.5 to 12.5 oz) with 2% to 3% stretch / elastane.
Color: Classic medium-to-dark denim blue with a soft rinse.
Key Measurements
Waist (Relaxed): 34 inches (86.5 cm) - measured at natural high waist above hip bones
Waist (Extended): 36.5 to 37 inches (93 to 94 cm)
Inseam: 34 inches (86.5 cm)
Total Rise / Total Crotch Length: 38.5” (98cm)
Leg Opening: 16 inches (40.5 cm) around
