Full-Stack / AI Engineer needed to build Autonomous AI Freight Platform (DirectFreight AI)
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Full-Stack / AI Engineer (or small development team) to build DirectFreight AI — an autonomous AI agent platform designed for the US heavy-trucking industry (Class 8 / Semi-trucks).
The platform bypasses traditional freight brokers by connecting motor carriers directly with shippers using an end-to-end automated pipeline for load evaluation, dynamic pricing, OCR document processing, real-time GPS tracking, and driver dispatch via messaging APIs.
Core Key Responsibilities:
AI & Workflow Orchestration: Build autonomous AI agent workflows using Python (FastAPI, LangChain / LlamaIndex) or n8n integrated with LLM APIs (GPT-4o / Llama 3 via Ollama/vLLM).
Document OCR Engine: Implement automated extraction and parsing for PDFs/images (Rate Confirmations, Bills of Lading, Proof of Delivery) into structured JSON schema using Vision LLMs or Document AI.
Integrations: Connect with Telematics/ELD APIs (Samsara/Motive), messaging channels (Telegram Bot API / WhatsApp Business API), and freight data APIs (DAT RateView / Truckstop).
Backend & Database: Design a production-ready PostgreSQL database architecture and RESTful/Webhook APIs.
Human-in-the-Loop Gateway: Implement an admin interface allowing dispatchers to review/override AI decisions during the initial deployment phase.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Strong experience in Python, Node.js, or n8n workflow development.
Proven track record building and deploying LLM Agents, RAG pipelines, and OCR / Vision workflows.
Deep expertise with RESTful APIs, Webhooks, and PostgreSQL.
Experience with supply chain, freight/logistics, or telematics APIs (Samsara, Motive, EDI protocols) is a huge plus.
Clean code principles, clear documentation, and strict security compliance (storing API keys securely, SOC2 compliance awareness).
