I’m preparing to launch a women-focused denim line and need an experienced designer who can stay hands-on from the first fabric swatch to the moment we approve final samples. The initial collection centres on jeans, specifically straight-leg and wide-leg cuts, so a strong command of fit, pattern work, and wash development is essential.
Here’s how I see our collaboration working:
• You’ll help pinpoint the right mid- to heavyweight denims, advise on stretch percentages where needed, and source mills that meet our quality goals.
• We’ll lock in measurement specs together; then you’ll work with my pattern maker to achieve a flattering, consistent fit across sizes.
• Each prototype will come back to you for fit comments, corrections, and detailed tech-pack updates until the samples feel perfect on real bodies.
• Your eye for washes, trims, stitching colours, and hardware will shape our final look, keeping production practicality in mind.
• You’ll liaise directly with the chosen factory and wash house, tracking changes and troubleshooting so I’m never surprised by a sample.
• The engagement runs right through to approval of salesman samples; after that we can talk about ongoing seasonal drops if the partnership feels right.
Acceptance criteria: approved size-run fit samples in both straight-leg and wide-leg silhouettes, complete tech packs ready for bulk production, and written wash recipes that reproduce consistently at scale.
If you’ve shepherded women’s denim projects before, especially jeans with a reputation for impeccable fit, I’d love to review those examples and hear how you approached similar challenges.
