I need a full ANSYS Workbench study that demonstrates how a building-type structural element behaves when it is subjected to compression and bending. The primary objective is to quantify strength and stress under these loading cases and highlight any areas approaching yield or failure.
You will receive either the native CAD model or a clean STEP file of the member. From there, set up the material properties (structural steel by default, but keep it editable), apply realistic boundary conditions that replicate fixed supports, and run separate as well as combined load cases for axial compression and bending. Please make sure the mesh is refined enough to capture peak stresses and include a brief note on your convergence check.
Deliverables
• ANSYS project file (.wbpz) with fully defined geometry, mesh, loads, and boundary conditions
• Coloured contour plots for Von Mises stress, principal stresses, and total deformation for each load case
• A short PDF report (2-3 pages) summarising assumptions, maximum stresses, displacement values, safety factor, and your brief commentary on whether the element is within acceptable limits
If you already use tools such as SpaceClaim or Mechanical APDL for preprocessing, feel free to stay with your normal workflow as long as the final output is importable into ANSYS Workbench for review.
I’m happy to answer any clarifying questions on geometry, material data, or load magnitudes once you start.
