I’m building a chess game that runs smoothly on Android phones and tablets, delivers a polished, modern interface, and lets two players face off in real-time online. The core of the job is the full development cycle: design, coding, and deployment to Google Play.
Key goals
• A clean, contemporary look and feel—no classic wood textures; think flat colours, subtle animations, and an intuitive touch layout.
• Multiplayer and online matchmaking as first-class features. Players should be able to create private rooms with friends or use quick-match to find an opponent.
• Solid, bug-free chess logic (legal move validation, stalemate/threefold repetition detection, timers, resign/draw options).
• Seamless user account handling via Google sign-in or email.
• Lightweight push notifications for ongoing games.
• A small but useful stats screen: ELO-style rating, win/loss record, average move time.
Deliverables
1. Production-ready APK plus signed AAB for Google Play release.
2. Complete, well-commented source code (Kotlin/Java, Flutter, or Unity C#—your call, as long as the build stays fast and maintainable).
3. Brief setup guide so I can compile and upload future updates myself.
4. One live test round with me on TestFlight-like internal testing to confirm matchmaking, timers, and resignation flow.
Acceptance criteria
• Multiplayer match connects in under 5 seconds on a typical 4G network.
• No crashes during a 50-move stress test.
• UI passes Material Design accessibility contrast checks.
If you’ve shipped real-time multiplayer mobile games before, especially with Firebase, Photon, or similar back ends, I’d love to see them. Let’s create the slickest chess experience on Android.
