I want to release a clean, lightweight GPS running tracker built exclusively for Android. The app’s single non-negotiable is rock-solid, real-time location tracking that draws the runner’s path on a map and keeps accurate distance and pace figures throughout the session. I’m aiming for something dependable enough for everyday use, yet simple enough to feel snappy on mid-range phones.

Here’s how I picture the flow:
• User taps “Start” and the route begins drawing instantly on a Google Map.
• Live stats (time, distance, current pace) update each second.
• Hitting “Stop” saves the run to a local store; I’m open to your recommendation on whether to sync it later to Firebase, Room, or another lightweight option.

Core expectations
• Written in Kotlin (Android Studio), using the latest Google Maps & Location APIs.
• Background-safe tracking that keeps GPS running even if the screen locks.
• Basic history screen listing past runs with summary metrics.
• Clean, commented code so I can iterate on features later.

Nice-to-have items (quote separately if they add noticeable effort): dark mode, export to GPX, or an optional calorie estimate.

Please let me know:
1. Your recommended tech stack and any libraries you’d pull in for battery management.
2. Rough milestone layout from prototype to Play-ready build.
3. A link to at least one location-based Android app you’ve shipped before.

Deliverables are the full Android Studio project, signed APK, and short setup notes.
