I already have a fully detailed CAD file of a soft-plastic “rubber worm” bait and now need the actual aluminum mold produced. The goal is a durable, polished-cavity mold that will hold up to a limited production run of hand-poured plastics.
The job in a nutshell
• Machine the mold from aluminum (6061 or 7075—whichever you normally use for small-run tooling).
• Maintain a mirror-like polished finish inside the cavities so the worms release cleanly without post-processing.
• Cut in proper gates, sprue, venting, and alignment pins; the CAD shows part geometry but you can adjust the mold base details for optimal flow and easy clamping.
• Ship the completed mold to me, deburred, cleaned, and ready to pour.
What I will provide
– Native CAD file (STEP or IGES; other formats available if needed).
– Dimensional callouts and target shot weight.
– My shipping details and any preferred courier info.
Acceptance criteria
1. Dimensional accuracy within ±0.05 mm of the CAD.
2. Polished surface finish with no tool marks visible on the final worms.
3. Mold closes square with zero flash on a test pull (you can send a quick photo or short video).
4. Smooth hand pour confirmed on your end before dispatch.
If you have CNC milling, EDM access, and polishing expertise for bait molds, let’s set this up and I can get the CAD in your hands right away.
