I want to launch a clean, responsive web app where a visitor can paste a video link, watch a quick preview, then click to download the clip in MP4, AVI or MKV.
Phase one must handle Facebook links flawlessly, and the code architecture should be modular enough that I can plug in YouTube, Vimeo or any other source later, turning it into a true all-in-one downloader.
Server-side you may lean on yt-dlp/youtube-dl plus FFmpeg (or a comparable toolkit) to fetch and, when needed, transcode the streams. The front end is up to you—vanilla JavaScript, React, Vue, or similar—as long as it remains lightweight and mobile-friendly. Please make sure the user sees the video title, thumbnail and a short playable preview before choosing the format.
Deliverables
• Fully working website deployed to my hosting environment
• Source code with clear comments and a setup/README file
• Brief test report showing successful Facebook downloads in the three requested formats
Acceptance criteria
1. Given a valid Facebook URL, the site displays a preview within 3 seconds.
2. The user can download the video as MP4, AVI, or MKV without watermarks.
3. Code is organized so that adding new platforms only requires a new extractor module and a route entry—no core rewrites.
If you can meet those points and keep the interface snappy, I’d love to see your approach and timeline.
