We're interviewing freelance talent for a fractional AI Solutions Lead to help small-business teams choose, set up and adopt AI tools that actually work for them.
Skills we need:
- Hands-on experience setting up AI tools for real teams in more than one industry, with before-and-after results you can show
- Workflow analysis: using data to find where a task loses time, money or control
- Vendor-neutral judgment: comparing options on cost and risk, including when not to use AI
- Configuring Microsoft 365, Google Workspace and common small-business tools (CRM, quoting, bookkeeping): workflows, templates, prompts and simple automations
- Coaching staff on live work until a new process sticks
- Writing clear AI use rules: who reviews the output, what data stays out, who is accountable
- Working knowledge of language models, AI infrastructure and databases
- Plain-English communication with business owners
Pay: a flat fee of $240 to $300 per 14-day project, about $30 an hour. Each project is about 8 to 10 hours of work in total, spread across the 14 days (not per day). Half is paid at kickoff, half at client acceptance. The top 2 applicants first complete a $100 paid written trial (about 2 hours). Mostly asynchronous, with some live sessions in US Eastern business hours.
To apply, answer in writing:
1. A 9-person HVAC company takes 2 days to send a quote, and staff use ChatGPT on personal accounts. Give 3 options (at least one without AI), the cost and risk of each, and your pick.
2. Describe one AI solution you set up for a real team: what changed, how you know (give the numbers), and what went wrong.
3. Two weeks in, staff stop using the new setup. What do you do in the next 3 days?
4. Propose your flat fee for one 14-day project (about 8 to 10 hours in total), and say how many projects a month you could take from December to February.
