I am building a digital newsroom dedicated to hard-hitting political investigations and fact-checking, content creation and I need a developer who can fuse solid web engineering with cutting-edge generative AI. The site must let my editorial team lean on an integrated writing assistant that can brainstorm angles, outline long-form exposés, suggest sources for follow-up, and polish draft copy while flagging possible defamation risks or factual gaps. Time line not urgent.
Core requirements
• A clean, fast CMS (headless WordPress, Strapi, or a custom Django setup are all fine) that supports three distinct formats: traditional articles and long reports, interactive multimedia features (think maps, timelines, data visualisations), and an embedded player section for videos and podcasts.
• Seamless AI layer: server-side connection to GPT-4 (or comparable LLM) exposed through a secure editor sidebar for content creation and writing assistance. Prompts, temperature settings, and usage logs must be configurable in an admin panel.
• Robust version control: store every AI-generated suggestion alongside the human-edited final copy so we can demonstrate editorial transparency.
• Search and discovery tuned for investigative work – full-text, tag, and entity search with autosuggest, plus a “related documents” sidebar generated by the same language model.
• Encryption at rest and in transit, role-based access (editor, contributor, fact-checker, guest), and 2FA for staff logins.
Acceptance criteria
1. I can draft a 2,000-word political investigation, invoke the AI assistant for headline ideas and source list suggestions, and publish it in under ten minutes.
2. Interactive charts (supplied as CSV) render responsively on desktop and mobile.
3. Videos and podcast episodes load in less than three seconds on a 4G connection.
4. All AI calls, edits, and user roles are logged to a dashboard I can download as CSV.
5. Core Web Vitals score “green” on Google PageSpeed Insights.
If you have experience integrating OpenAI or similar APIs into news or research-driven platforms and can deliver clean, documented code, let’s talk timelines and milestones.
