Can you help us design an affordable, professional six-display architecture that can operate as one canvas, multiple zones, or independent displays?
We are looking for an experienced audiovisual systems designer or multi-display/video-wall specialist to help design a small six-display prototype environment.
This is a remote consulting design request, not an installation project.
Our goal is to develop an affordable 3 × 2 display environment capable of supporting two primary operating modes:
1. Unified Display Mode — Six displays operating together as one large visual workspace.
2. Independent/Grouped Display Mode — Six displays operating independently or in configurable
groups, with different applications and information displayed across the environment.
**Please see attached image.
We would like the AV specialist to recommend an initial architecture covering:
- Recommended display size/type and minimum specifications.
- Recommended computer/GPU configuration capable of supporting six displays.
- Required video outputs, adapters, docking hardware, processors, or controllers.
- Options for switching between one large visual canvas and independent display zones.
- Video-wall processor versus GPU/software-based approaches, including advantages and disadvantages.
- Mounting approach for a 3 × 2 prototype wall.
- Recommended cabling and connectivity.
- Power and basic infrastructure considerations.
- Software/control approaches for saving and recalling different display layouts.
- Potential future integration with APIs, automation, or AI-based commands.
- Basic bill of materials with estimated component costs.
- Simple architecture/signal-flow diagram showing how the system should connect.
- Recommendations for scaling the prototype into larger professional video-wall or control-room environments.
We are intentionally trying to keep the first prototype affordable and practical. We are not looking to purchase or design an enterprise command-center solution at this stage.
The ideal consultant will have experience with one or more of the following:
AVIXA CTS / CTS-D, video walls, control rooms, multi-display visualization, NVIDIA Mosaic, AMD Eyefinity, AV-over-IP, video-wall processors, Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS, Datapath, VuWall, or similar professional AV technologies.
Certification is helpful but not mandatory if you can demonstrate significant hands-on design experience.
We are looking for a concise design package rather than a complete engineering project:
1. Recommended system architecture.
2. Basic signal-flow diagram.
3. Hardware/BOM recommendations.
4. Approximate prototype budget.
5. Key design risks, limitations, and considerations.
6. 30 minute friendly virtual review to walk through the recommendation and answer questions.
When responding, please briefly describe a multi-display, video-wall, control-room, or visualization system you have personally designed and identify the specific technologies you used.
