Advanced Shopify Store Developer -- 2

I’m looking for an experienced Shopify professional to build the first two phases of a new ecommerce business, with the opportunity for ongoing work after a successful launch.

I’ve owned a successful home furnishings business in San Francisco for more than 22 years and am transitioning to an online-only business. I represent an established Scandinavian rug brand with an existing product line, professional photography and a clear business direction.

This is a design-forward project. I’m looking for someone who combines strong Shopify development skills with excellent visual judgment, attention to detail and a thoughtful approach to ecommerce.

The goal is not simply to configure a Shopify store. I want something refined, intuitive, image-forward and distinctive, with the quality of the product reflected in the digital experience.

PHASE 1 — STORE BUILD & LAUNCH

• Shopify theme selection, customization and implementation
• product, collection and navigation structure
• approximately 16 product families
• approximately 152 color variants and 77 size variants
• product images and image organization
• product options and variant logic
• shipping, payments and essential apps
• mobile optimization and final testing
• practical recommendations for improving the customer experience and store management

There is meaningful complexity in the product catalog and variant structure, so careful organization and good judgment will be important.

PHASE 2 — CONTENT, MERCHANDISING & OPTIMIZATION

• product descriptions and merchandising
• image optimization and organization
• on-page SEO
• further UX and conversion improvements
• additional product and collection development
• refinement of the store based on what we learn during the initial build

Phase 1 and Phase 2 are separate milestones within the same project. Please provide a fixed-price proposal of $2,500–$3,000 total and explain how you would divide the work between the two milestones.

DESIGN DIRECTION

I’m particularly drawn to the ecommerce websites of Roberto Collina and Cecilie Bahnsen.

These are aspirational references rather than expectations for the budget. I understand that brands operating at that level have substantially larger marketing and design budgets. What I appreciate is their restraint, visual confidence, use of imagery and the way product, collection and brand storytelling work together.

Please look at both websites and comment briefly on what you think they do particularly well from a design, product presentation and ecommerce perspective. I’d also like your thoughts on how some of those principles could translate to a Scandinavian rug brand with a much more complex product and variant structure.

I’m looking for someone I can work with for a long time, not simply someone to complete this project. I want a partner who communicates exceptionally well, thinks ahead, notices problems before they become problems and takes genuine ownership of the work.
