Accounts Payable Overdues Elimination

Note: Please do not bid on this project less you meet ALL of the following 3 requirements:
1) Six Sigma Black Belt (SSBB) certification;
2) At least 3 years experience as a SSBB Practitioner and/or Coach;
3) Successfully delivered or coached at least one project in the area of Procure-to Pay (PTP) / Invoice-to-Pay (ITP) / Accounts Payable (AP) -- must submit an A3 or equivalent for that project.

Our accounts-payable workflow is suffering from one persistent pain point: frequent payment delays, and I want a Six Sigma Black Belt to lead a focused project that will drive those errors down to a statistically insignificant level. Today, most invoices still flow through manual touches and too many hand-offs; when communication breaks down between purchasing, receiving, and finance, an invoice can sit for days before anyone notices. I need a structured DMAIC engagement that will map the current process, quantify delay-related defects, uncover the root causes tied to manual processing and miscommunication, and then implement sustainable countermeasures.

I will provide indirect access to historical AP data, process documentation, and I will conduct key staff for voice-of-the-process interviews as your guidance. You will steer the project through each phase, run the statistical analysis in Minitab (or a comparable tool), and guide me to facilitate kaizen sessions where necessary, and deliver:

• A clear, data-backed root-cause analysis
• A redesigned future-state workflow that removes manual bottlenecks and clarifies communication triggers
• A control plan with dashboard metrics so late-payment defects stay below the agreed sigma level

Success is measured by cutting current late-payment occurrences by at least 80% within three months of implementation and holding that improvement for another quarter. Let’s turn Accounts Payable into a showcase of reliable, on-time vendor payments.
