About the Opportunity
The Center for Action and Contemplation (CAC) is looking for a thoughtful, collaborative, and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our growing Finance team.
This is more than a traditional accounting role. As CAC continues to evolve, we're reimagining how our Finance team operates, creating an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys improving processes, bringing fresh ideas to the table, and helping build scalable financial operations.
You'll partner closely with our Controller and Accounting team to support payroll, month-end close, reconciliations, and day-to-day accounting operations. You'll also serve as a trusted resource to our AP and AR specialists, helping ensure our financial processes are accurate, efficient, and positioned to support CAC's long-term mission.

What You'll Do
Accounting Operations
Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process
Prepare account reconciliations and ensure financial records remain accurate and complete
Assist with general ledger accounting and journal entries
Help maintain strong internal controls and accounting best practices
Payroll & Financial Administration
Own payroll processing and ensure employees are paid accurately and on time
Partner with internal stakeholders to resolve payroll-related questions
Support tax filings and payroll compliance activities
AP & AR Partnership
Work closely with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable team members
Review reconciliations and day-to-day accounting activity
Help troubleshoot issues and ensure smooth financial operations across the team
Process Improvement
Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and improve efficiency
Recommend and implement thoughtful process improvements as the Finance team evolves
Partner with leadership to help build scalable accounting practices for the future
Qualifications
5+ years of progressive accounting experience
Experience supporting month-end close and account reconciliations
Experience processing payroll
Strong understanding of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams
Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Nice to Have
Experience working in a nonprofit organization
Experience using Sage Intacct
Experience with investment reconciliations
Experience with Rippling or similar payroll platforms
Familiarity with Salesforce, Shopify, Avalara, or PayPal

This is a full-time, exempt position scheduled to begin as soon as possible. We’re open to remote candidates, but have a preference for candidates who are located in Albuquerque, New Mexico or are open to relocation (we offer relocation assistance).
The salary range for this position is $69,610–$86,588 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. Compensation ranges are established based on a grade system designed to ensure competitiveness with industry standards as well as pay equity. Final compensation will be determined based on the specific qualifications of the candidate in relation to the salary grade and predetermined criteria.
