5th-Century Scottish Attire Commission

I’m putting together a complete set of early-5th-century Scottish working-class clothing and need an experienced historical textile artisan to create each piece exactly as it would have been made at the time. Every fibre must be hand spun, every thread tablet-woven, and every seam hand sewn.

Dyeing requirements
• The brown ionar wool and the yellow brat must be coloured with historically accurate, Scotland-available resources. I’m open to plant, insect, or mineral origins so long as you can document that the specific dyestuff was in use locally during the period.
• Please keep a brief process log and sample swatches so I can reference them against extant finds.

Weaving & construction
• All wool elements are to be woven on tablets; linens may stay in plain weave loom weaving if that proves more authentic.
• Stitching, finishing, and any tablet-woven edging should match period techniques—no visible modern machine work.

1. Sleeveless brown ócaire ionar (wool)
2. Undyed ankle-length léine (linen)
3. Yellow brat/cloak (wool)
4. Clios belt in undyed or brown linen

– Hand-finished seams throughout
– Garments sized to my measurements (to be provided after award)
