Summary
We are VAN-Jorn, a manufacturer of modular campervans, and we are looking for an experienced **3D artist / technical 3D specialist** to prepare and optimize our Fusion 360 models for our online **Three.js 3D configurator**.
Our source models come from Autodesk Fusion 360 and can be supplied as `.FBX`. We need these converted into clean, lightweight and visually high-quality `.GLB` assets.
We already have a detailed technical optimization guide from our configurator developer.
## Project scope
The current project consists of approximately **60 main assets**, resulting in roughly **70–90 final GLB files** because several models require mirrored, empty, open/closed or other variants.
We want to complete the project in two phases.
### Phase 1 – Cleanup & preparation
**Deadline: September 15, 2026**
The first phase focuses on getting the models technically ready for our configurator:
- Clean up Fusion 360 / FBX hierarchy
- Remove unnecessary empties and objects
- Export to GLB
- Consistent orientation, front facing +Y
- Correct and consistent pivots / origins
- Maintain exact positioning between different assets
- Separate configurable components where necessary
- Consistent file naming
The geometry does not yet need to be fully optimized during Phase 1.
### Phase 2 – Full web optimization
**Deadline: November 3, 2026**
We preferably want the same freelancer to also complete Phase 2:
- Strong polygon reduction / low-poly optimization
- Remove invisible and unnecessary CAD geometry
- Simplify small details such as screws and holes
- Retopology / rebuilding geometry where necessary
- UV mapping and normals
- PBR-compatible materials and textures
- Maximum 2048 × 2048 textures
- Maintain visual quality
- Optimize for real-time browser performance
Target file size is approximately **1–3 MB for furniture modules** and preferably no more than **5 MB for complete vehicle models**.
## First priority
The first batch contains approximately **34 asset groups**, including:
- Rooflights, roof fan and pop-top sleeping roof
- Windows and side flare
- Longitudinal and transverse beds
- Single bench, fold-out seat and baby bed
- Tables
- Kitchen and different worktops
- Bathroom
- Cabinets and upper cabinets
- Refrigerator cabinets and variants
- Floor riser
- Bed drawer
- Wheel arches
- Wall light
- Various interior panels and smaller components
Several variants can be created efficiently from the same model, for example mirrored versions, removing a refrigerator, shortening a shelf or removing cushions.
## Vehicle models – later stage
We also need:
**Peugeot Boxer 2026**
- L2 / L3 / L4
- H2 / H3
**Mercedes Sprinter 2026**
- L2H2
- L3H2
These models also contain interior components such as wall panels, flooring, rails, lights, electrical outlets, trims and the cab interior.
## Accessories – later stage
Approximately 17 additional assets, including:
- Curtains
- Solar panels
- Cassette and tarp awnings
- Bicycle racks
- Electric step
- Insect screen
- 16" wheels and tires
- Roof air conditioning
- Exterior LED strip
- Various smaller camper accessories
## Quality reference
We already had one model professionally optimized by a 3D designer working with our configurator developer.
This model represents the **target quality, materials, textures and optimization level** we want for the other assets:

## Who we are looking for
You should have experience with:
- Blender
- CAD / Fusion 360 derived geometry
- FBX → GLB / glTF
- Three.js / WebGL assets
- Low-poly optimization
- Retopology
- UV mapping and PBR materials
- Optimizing models for real-time web use
Experience with **online product configurators** is a major advantage.
This is not primarily a rendering job. We need someone who understands **geometry complexity, hierarchy, pivots, file size and browser performance**.
## Paid test first
We would like to start with **one paid test model**.
For this model we preferably want to see both the cleaned Phase 1 version and the fully optimized Phase 2 result.
If the quality and workflow are good, we want to assign the complete project to the same freelancer.
## Budget
## Budget
Our target budget for the complete project is approximately **€3,000 / $3,500**.
We understand that this is a substantial number of assets, so we are specifically looking for someone who can create an **efficient and repeatable workflow** for cleaning and optimizing our existing Fusion 360 models.
Many final GLB files are variations of the same base asset, for example:
- Mirrored versions
- Removing a refrigerator or other component
- Shortening an existing part
- Removing cushions
- Different worktops on the same kitchen module
- Reusing components between different vehicle lengths
We are therefore not expecting every final GLB file to be treated as a completely new 3D modeling project.
We would first like to start with **one small paid test**. If the quality is good, the complete project can be awarded immediately.
When applying, please include:
1. Examples of optimized GLB / glTF models you have created
2. Experience with CAD → real-time web optimization
3. Your preferred workflow/software
4. Whether you can handle both Phase 1 and Phase 2
5. Your price for the initial paid test
6. Confirmation that you can meet the Phase 1 deadline of September 15
