3D Mechanical Animation Project Brief: Custom 5-Key Non-Sequential Puzzle Padlock
Project Overview
I need a professional 3D mechanical engineering animation video showing the internal mechanism of a unique, custom puzzle padlock. The lock requires 5 distinct keys to open. Unlike traditional sequential locks, the first 4 keys can be inserted and operated in ANY RANDOM ORDER. The padlock must only unlock when the final 5th key is used.
Component Breakdown & Technical Description
1. The Levers (Internal Plates)
• Description: There are 5 independent flat metal plates (Levers) stacked vertically inside the lock. Each lever is attached to a small tension spring that default-pushes it down to its baseline locked position.
• Movement: Each key is designed to lift one specific lever to a precise height.
2. True Gate & Trap Notch
• Each individual lever plate features two critical cuts:
• True Gate: A precise slot or channel. The lock can only open when the true gates of all 5 levers align in a perfect straight line.
• Trap Notch (Detent Latch): A special catching notch. When Key 1, 2, 3, or 4 lifts its respective lever and is then removed, a spring-loaded detent pin catches this trap notch. This keeps that specific lever permanently trapped in the open/aligned position instead of dropping back down.
3. The 5 Keys & Edge Progression (Anti-Interference Design)
• To ensure smooth insertion without jamming, the keys follow a strict height hierarchy.
• Key 1 has the shortest operating edge (shallowest cut). The operating edges of Key 2, 3, and 4 grow progressively longer. This design constraint ensures that when a deeper key is pushed into the keyhole, it passes smoothly through the lower levers without accidentally catching or triggering them out of place.
